When you have to find a new home for your dog that you just have no time for- or worse when you have to move and you abandon your dog. I hope this reminds you to just say no.
When you see a cute puppy marked free at the Walmart parking lot or a rescue for just $40 at the pet store… If you don’t have time to hang up your clothes after you wash them because you work 2 jobs… Just say no! You are not going to be able to help this dog.
And the money? The shots, the spaying, the flea meds- toys, food… What if they have an accident?
The pup will be a little older, develop bad habits because of your inability to care for them and be confused about their many transitions. Just say no.
When you get a new boyfriend and go to the trade show and fall in love with your “dog-child” cuz they are sooo cute and you are so in love… Just say no!
Let a more available puppy parent take them home! Let the puppy mills dry up.
Volunteer at your local shelter and share the love- better yet, share the puppies and kitties and aging dogs on facebook, twitter and whatever the newest space may be to find them a home! Spend that hour a week you would have spent with your new canine soulmate.
That said… ADOPT- if you have the time.
