My Driving Career
I have driven over a hundred horses for driving events. I will compete again one day, for now I am just enjoying the driving experience.
Twenty-five years ago I was learning how to navigate traffic with a Clydesdale named Robby in downtown Fort Worth, Texas. For many years, I had been a full-time driving student; learning pleasure, combined and commercial driving skills from many teachers while developing my writing style and enhancing my portfolio. My greatest achievements include, “Getting the horse back to the barn in a blinding rainstorm without breaking anything”, “Successfully coming to an agreement with a heavy Standardbred pair about the speed at which we would travel”, and my personal favorite, “Finishing the cones with vet wrap on my knee, wondering where I would get my tetanus shot.” and while bartending on the train and ship I have become known as somewhat of a “drunk whisperer.” I am currently writing a book about how I survived my driving adventures.
