Timelines are used to plan backwards.
If your deadline for a project is a year from now, we would list the tasks necessary to meet the deadline. For instance, Let’s say you need to print your brochures in a month. If you a have not done so already, you would need to make sure your website is ready to be viewed, take photos of your store for the brochure, write the text and have it proofread and edited.
It would look like this:
- October 20th, Big Networking Event
- October 15th, pick up brochures from printer
- October 10th, send digital brochure to printer
- October 9th, review final draft of brochure from designer
- October 8th, send final edits to designer
- October 6th, review and make changes with designer over next 2 days
- October 1st, photo shoot at the shop of desired images
- September 22nd, send to outline to designer
- September 20th, decide on text, colors and images desired for brochure
- September 15th, edit and review, update and change website to prepare for potential new client views
There are quite a few more steps that could be detailed, but you get the picture. I am good at this type of project management. Call me for advise or help! 903-521-4570.
